'yes it's a cult' LOL

This site has a forum that is full of negative explanations of cults - they are all in there Holosync/Matrix/SM/RT/Byron Katie/NLP/EFT......and more and even more!

Is the site a CULT itself perhaps?

Even Larry Crane is a cult leader - course he is!

So dangerous when people do not take things for checking themselves, and speak from zero experience!

See what you think! :)

Lisa: It would be very helpful for everybody to know exactly what a cult is. Here are some definitions from the dictionary.

1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology. a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
6. a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.
7. the members of such a religion or sect.
8. any system for treating human sickness that originated by a person usually claiming to have sole insight into the nature of disease, and that employs methods regarded as unorthodox or unscientific.

I would love to know which definition best suits our case lol

A cult has to create dependency. That's why I said that releasing is the worst cult ever. Hale and Larry don't want us to live with them. They want us to do everything by ourselves, which is the opposite of cult.
I have a book from when I was into hypnosis that has guidelines and processes to create cult. Doesn't mean anything if people are not going to look for me to feel good and right.

I beg to disagree here Mario: You say that Larry and Hale want us to do everything by ourselves. However, when I count the emails I receive from Larry and Hale(especially Larry advertising their products(courses, retreats, books etc), it seems like if we don't buy their courses and go to their retreats we won't be able to release by ourselves. I'm maybe biased but that's the picture I get.

I think I wasn't clear. I mean they don't want us to be following them all the time. If you want to create a cult, you better do a lot of programming in your pupils, and keep them around, like weekly meetings or, better yet, have them living with you and cutting all ties to family and friends (unless they also want to join the group).
Larry and Hale have marketing and products they want to sell, but that's it. Larry has 4 retreats a year and the weekend courses, and I think Hale also has about 4. The rest of the time you release by yourself. If they want to create a cult, they should work better at that :)
Sure they say that you will do better if you attend retreats and buy courses, but they don't say you need to, or that you won't go Free if you don't. Larry even say that if you sit down for 3 weeks and only release (only being the key word), you will get it. I've also heard Larry and Lester say more than once that all you need is the basic course. The rest is to aid you in going through ego-resistance and put Step 4 in place. And "Any aid is a good aid except aids" - Lester
Most important: releasing does the opposite of programming, which is cult 101. I don't need to attend a retreat, but I like it. I only attend the Final Step retreats now (2 each year). I like the other retreats and I would go if I had time, but there's no obligation or need to.
I don't feel I need Larry or Hale to continue my releasing. I don't even plan on buying anything else from Hale as they are stalling me with Inner Circle 5, not giving me the process they promised in their ad or my money back. I would act the same if Larry did the same thing, but I think it would be easier in this case as Larry is reachable.

Mario: You're right. It's true that Larry and Hale don't act as gurus. They give us basic tools and it's up to us to see whether we need more tools or not. And most of us do as we have our egos don't give up easily.

"And most of us do as we have our egos don't give up easily." - Guilty as charged!

Lilar, thankyou for taking all that trouble to type up the definition of a cult!

For those that didn't realise it, I was being sarcastic in my choice of words in the heading! A bit of reverse psychology too! I couod have been clearer!

We know SMART iis in now way a cult, yet some try to make out it (and, many other processes are)...

If you tap in RT or any other process into the search on that cult site you will see what has been written. It is unhelpful to saynthe least! Thatnis what I was tryingnto highlight :)

Mario - I like it! When Hootless.com reaches that site one day and is declared a cult, we can hold a CULT 101 SEMINAR LOL

Lisa: Sure I did!!!! Before buying the SM complete course, I did some research online about the SM and the RT and I came across that forum and boy they attacked the Method!!! Fortunately it didn't stop me from buying the audio course! Their arguments about the cult thing wasn't convincing enough.

I honestly find the word / concept "Cult" amusing. Its banded around without any reasoning or substance simpy to cause reaction from naysayers. And as for "dictionary" definitions who actually decides these? and when were they last updated and scurtinized? Hale has it right when he says "words" are simply not adequate enough for truth (one day he aims to do retreats without any dialouge at all) Let the naysayers "nay" and just "be" - I feel a release coming on!

Hale Dwoskin impression: "WHO CARES!! chuckle! chuckle"

No no, a real Hale impression would go like this:

"...and so what? huhhuh-huhuhuh-huhhuhuhuhuh-huh"

:p

And I agree, SMaRT is the opposite of what cults are doing, ie. brainwashing you and giving up your possessions. "Discover your inner freedom" is the message of releasing - quite the opposite of "follow me, give up your life and I'll...[whatever]".

Words are only pointers...and that's all they ever can and will be :) The Real You is undefinable, while words tend to define - and therefore it's impossible for words to do "the job".

Haha, good one! Hale deserves a sound effect. I don't know how it is possible that some people don't like that laugh :) I laugh just reading it.
